How To Accept Credit Card Payment Online On Your Website

Accepting credit card payments plays an important role in ensuring the success of your online business. Most of the online transactions are done through credit card payments. Your business will be greatly affected if your website cannot accept credit card.
While it is true that people will still buy your products if you don't accept credit card payments, you will greatly enhance your chances of closing a sale by giving the customer the option of paying you through credit card.
In this article, you will learn how online credit card payment processing works, how to accept credit card on your website, issues to handle when accepting credit card payment on your website, and 3rd party credit card processors.
So, how does it work? First, you'll need to have a merchant account. In fact, a special type of merchant account called internet merchant account. Don't worry if you don't have one now. I will show you how your website can still accept credit card even without a merchant account. It is a special banking account that enables you to process credit card payment from your customers.
Credit card payment involves a very simple process i.e. to transfer funds from the customers credit card account to the seller's bank account. The sequence is basically as follows:-
1. The customer goes to your site and decides to buy from you. He then enters the credit card details onto a SECURE ORDER FORM on a secure server (denotes as httpS://). The next stage is basic fraud avoidance like validating the card number and address verification etc.
2. Then, this information is transmitted through a payment GATEWAY to the Credit Card Association such as Visa or MasterCard. A GATEWAY is the mechanism that transfers your customer's credit card details to the processor so that you get paid.
3. Transaction is either authorized or declined depending on the state of the card, whether it has been stolen, or has exceeded its credit limit, available funds and other things it deems important before allowing transaction to go through. Results are sent back to the merchant. If it is authorized, the customers will be led to a "thank-you page" where the downloading instructions of your infoproduct are given.
To begin accepting credit card on your website, there are few issues to be considered first...
1. Security Issue How secure is your order form? Many people remain reluctant to give their credit card details to someone that they deem unreliable. To eliminate their guards, you need to have your order form placed in a secure server with certification.
When your customer enters his credit card particulars, it is sent in plain, unencrypted text form to the host server. And it is possible to intercept this data by unscrupulous hackers. So, you must use SSL encryption to ensure no unauthorized individual can decode the information. Once your customers know their credit card information is secure, they will be *MUCH* willing to give their credit card details.
2. Real Time vs Delayed With real time payment processing, you will be able to process your customer's credit card information *WITHIN SECOND*. Surely you don't want a credit card payment processor that takes 24 hours to verify the card is valid. Customers are expecting an *INSTANT* verification so that they can download the infoproduct immediately.
With delayed payment processing, however, the data does not go through the gateway. So you can inspect all orders and correct them. This would be fine if you have only few orders per day. What happen when you have hundred or even thousand orders per day? It is certainly very time-consuming and ineffective. So, my advice is to use a real time credit card processor.
3. Refund Policy How are you going to handle the refunding if customers are not happy with your products and request a refund from you? Generally, you will get some refund requests form your customers. You cannot please everyone. You will still receive refund request no matter how good your products are. Therefore, you'll need to have a refund plan. You must decide how are you going to return the money to your dissatisfied customers. Are you going to do all by yourself or hire a full time employee to handle the refunding or leave it to a company that will handle all the hurdles and hassles of returning money to your dissatisfied customers?
4. Applying a merchant account You may arrange for a merchant account with a company that offers payment-processing services that are known as merchant service providers. Alternatively, you can contact your local bank to open a merchant account.
For small e-business, you may have problems in getting a merchant account. Reputable banks and financial institutions are very selective about who they give merchant account to. Normally, you may not be able to open one if you are new to the internet and just starting your online business. And it seems to be very complicated and expensive to set up your own merchant account, your gateway and secure order form. Fortunately, there are many companies on the net offering these 3 services in one package.
So, you don't *ACTUALLY* need a merchant account to accept credit card payments. You can get the service of these so-called 3rd party credit card processors. Of course, you will be charged a higher percentage of the ticket price and will only be able to receive paychecks twice or three times a month depending on the service providers you sign up with. But, it is a good start for small ebusiness.
For the beginner, it makes most sense because setting up your site's ability to accept credit card is going to be lots easier. It is much set up and ready to go as soon as you sign up. This gives you more time to concentrate on other important stuff like finding new business venture etc. You can always move to a more expensive, more complex and possibly more reliable service later on if your business grows.
Below are brief descriptions of 3rd party credit card processors that provide real time credit card payment processing I found in cyberspace...
1. Clickbank Clickbank is the online distribution center for digital products. It accepts online credit card payment. The best part of Clickbank is it has a built-in affiliate network that handles your affiliate program automatically. It boasts to have 100,000 members. In other words, you have 100,000 people ready to promote your products.
2. 2Checkout.com 2checkout.com has a broad range of services for small e-businesses, whether you're selling a digital product, a service or selling membership in which you will have recurring billing. It charges a one-time set up fee of $49 and a 5.5% commission plus a $0.45 on each transaction. No monthly fees, no minimum payment. I have been using their service for quite some time and found their service had been excellent.
3. Digibuy.com Digibuy.com is an electronic commerce solution for publishers of software, shareware, information and data. You can inexpensively build a secure storefront to merchandise your products, take orders online, process payments and distribute digital products over the internet.
It lets you have complete control over all your online e-commerce activities like pricing, order form and delivery options. However, Digibuy.com charges a somewhat high processing fee : 13.9% commission for each transaction.
4. iBill.com iBill.com handles all banking, risk management, affiliate management and customer service issues for clients selling products and services on the internet. It boasts to offer the most comprehensive payment options on the web including credit cards, online checks and telephone billing. However, it charges a flat 15% on sales go through them. It is a bit expensive but it looks very corporate and professional.
Ok, I'm not going to explain anymore. There are too many out there such as Paypal, CCNow, Paysystems, Charge.com, ifullfill.com and many more. I'll let you explore yourself. But keep in mind that rates and features can vary greatly. Research your choices carefully and make decision based on what your customers would prefer and your small business can afford.

How To Find The Best Flight Deals

By
Booking a flight is easy, but finding the best deal may not be as simple. Prices for flights will vary depending on the time of day they're purchased, the day of the week and the current rate. Outside factors influencing the cost are fuel prices, the individual airline's revenue and the airline's expenses. There are a few important things to know when looking for a flight. This article will give some helpful tips for finding the best flight deals.
Advance Reservations
The best advice for flying is to reserve early. As soon as money is available and travel plans are decided, purchase a flight first. Hotel reservations, rental cars and other trip details can be paid upon obtaining the service. Airline tickets must be purchased in advance. It is important to be sure of travel dates; if they are still somewhat uncertain, it is best to choose an airline that has a lower change fee. Some discount carriers, such as Southwest, do not charge change fees. Most airlines charge between $50-$300, depending on how far in advance the change is made and how full the flight is. The popular search engine called Bing has a special flight-finder feature that shows the current lowest rate, along with a predictor scale that indicates whether it is a good time to buy or it is better to wait.
Discount Airlines
Not everyone plans trips in advance. Sometimes there is little notice for booking a flight. Funerals, family emergencies, weddings and impulsive weekend getaways all call for a last-minute purchase. When this is the case, always compare rates. Keep in mind that some airlines do not appear in a search engine's results - or a discount booking site. Popular sites such as Priceline include all of the major airlines. However, discount providers such as Virgin, Jet Blue, Southwest, AirTran and several others do not sell seats to discount sites. To see these rates, travelers will have to go to the site directly. Discount sites usually always have a lower rate than major airlines.
Flight Sales
In addition to searching the flight deals from discount airlines, it is also a good idea to check for flight sales. Most major air carriers that have sales will announce them through television commercials or advertisements. A simple search engine query for the current month, year and the words "flight sale" in quotation marks will yield any relevant results. Most sales are based on a one-way rate. For example, an airline may list their sale prices as "starting at $39 one-way." This means the lowest possible round-trip flight would be $78. Not all sale prices are applicable to every airport destination and departure location. To find the best deals when flight sales are not available, use discount comparison sites. Booking Buddy offers a comprehensive look at all the major discount companies' rates. Keep in mind that some companies do not list taxes and fees. Always be sure the total price has these items factored in to ensure the lowest fare is purchased. In most cases, Priceline has the lowest average prices and the best cancellation insurance plan.

Flat Screen Monitors - A Buyer's Guide

By
The tipping point has arrived. Flat screen monitors have become widely accepted as the new standard for media displays in computing, and with good reason. Flat screen monitors are slim, and fit on desks that couldn't hold a conventional CRT monitor, with a tube. They also require less energy to power and thus produce less excess heat, creating a safer and more economical environment in which to complete your work.
Additionally, within the past year or so prices on flat screen monitors have dropped markedly, making them more accessible for buyers everywhere. This combination of factors has come together to create a perfect storm in the market, flooding sales floors all over with a veritable smorgasbord of monitor options. Picking the right one can be a long and arduous process, but can be made much easier if you keep a few simple rules in mind.
RULE 1
DECIDE WHAT SIZE YOU WANT BEFORE YOU GO SHOPPING Picking the correct size monitor for your media needs is an essential part of this process. Will you be primarily watching movies on your computer? If so, consider a wide-screen monitor that will fit the ratio of most letter-box movies, this will not only increase your viewable area on the monitor, but will also result in a more fulfilled viewing experience. Plan on doing word processing, emailing and other standard desktop activities? Then you probably don't need an excessively large or wide-screen monitor.
For the most part, flat screen monitors start at about fifteen inches and work their way up to in excess of thirty-two. Picking a size that fits your needs, and your budget is a critical part of this process.
RULE 2
LCD, PLASMA OR LED - WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
LCDs Liquid Crystal Display, or LCD flat screen monitors use a backlight to send light through the liquid crystal molecules and the substrate. LCD flat screen monitors work through applying voltage to the pixels using a complex series of interconnected diodes, the pixels can be lightened or darkened to prevent the backlight from shining through. The problem with LCDs is their inability to show true blacks. So, if you're a film or photo editing guru, an LCD may not give you the color matching quality you need.
PLASMA Plasma screens are basically a network of multicolored phosphors (red, green and blue phosphors which combine to create a single pixel) mounted between two ultra-thin layers of glass or clear substrate. Plasma televisions use a submicron pulse for each triad of phosphors to excite the argon, neon and xenon used to produce the color information and light. As energy excites the phosphor molecules, the oxygen atoms dissipate and create the fourth state of matter, plasma, and emitting UV light in the process. The gases used within a plasma television actually have a half-life and will fade over time. Meaning, a plasma television is not a good long-term media option.
The problem is that they're relative power hogs, using more than 5x the electricity that a standard LCD uses. So if you're trying to think green, plasma is not the way to go.
RULE 3
YOUR BUDGET
LCD flat screen monitors are much cheaper than their plasma or LED counterparts, so keep that in mind when setting a budget. Also, think about how long you plan to use and have the monitor, if it is for the spare bedroom, you may not need it to have a high contrast ration or display resolution. If you plan on using it daily, and want it to last a while, then it might be time to shell out a bit extra and pay for the quality and longevity you deserve.
CONCLUSION Follow the rules and you'll be sure to end up with a flat screen monitor that matches your exact needs without breaking the bank.

NEWS: 100 Year Old Fhotos Found in Antique Camera

SAN DIEGO - A local photographer got more than he bargained for when he bought an antique camera unknowingly loaded with vintage photographs of the World War I era.
Anton Orlov – an analog photographer who lives in the University City area in San Diego – recently purchased a 1901 Bellini Jumelle photo camera at an antique shop near Los Angeles.

Orlov says he spent $100 on the vintage gem, but what he found inside was practically priceless.
The photographer brought the camera home and spent hours cleaning it. Then, he decided to look inside.
There, Orlov discovered a series of eight photographs, already developed, taken on the camera more than 100 years ago.
The images, which show WWI airplanes, ruins, soldiers on horses and even a bomb, offer an authentic glimpse into history.
“I was pretty flabbergasted,” said Orlov. “I’ve never seen images like that come out of the camera already developed.”

Orlov says his favorite shot in the series is one that captures a group of soldiers proudly holding up what looks like a bomb.
In his eyes, film photography of this kind is truly unique and special because it stands the test of time.
“Other than fire, very few things can destroy it,” he explained. “A hundred years from now, that SD [digital camera] card is going to be pretty useless.”

The photographer feels very lucky to have purchased the vintage camera.
“When I saw it, something pulled me towards it,” he added.
Eventually, Orlov would like to know if the old snapshots hold any value. But, for now, he’s enjoying his role as the keeper of the pictures – and the fact that they’re finally seeing the light of day.

“I'm just happy to put them out there after them being hidden in a camera for 100 years. I'm just happy to see people enjoying them,” he said.

How To Obtain Desired Results From Your Estate Agents?

By
Real Estate Agent
Property industry is lucrative and involves a lot of money. Therefore, both the tenant and the landlord have to be particularly careful about the letting agents they hire. This security is ensured by the Ombudsman for Estate Agents which offers basic guidelines for anyone treading through the property market with utmost care. To further safeguard the interest of all the parties involved in any transaction, the Office of Fair Trading launched the Ombudsman for Estate Agents and Office of Fair Trading Approved code, obviously in union with the Ombudsman for Estate Agents.
Commenced on March 21 2006, this code of conduct is also known as Ombudsman for Estate Agents scheme. They recommend that buyers and sellers should select only those estate agents who use the Approved code. They can either directly ask the letting agent if they are associated with the code or figure it out with the logo in their windows. The best reason to hire an estate agent using the Approved code is that you can seek a lot of guidance and support from the Ombudsman. If the Ombudsman feels and concludes that you have either been deceived or have received poor services from the lettings agent, he can claim compensation on your behalf.
There are many letting agents across various regions of London, catering from the suburban areas to the more affluent ones for rental accommodation like Knightsbridge, Notting Hill, etc. who use this code, thereby assuring frustrated customers (if any) with a free service that aims to settle all disputes. These agents are also in agreement for a disciplinary council to sort out things with members who fail to deliver the standards prescribed by the code. Below are the pointers in brief that the Ombudsman for Estate Agents requires all its estate agents follow by law to bring more transparency and accountability in all the transactions:
1. Confirm all major decisions, questions and instructions in writing for better documentation that can be referred later.
2. Property sellers must request valuations and commission quotes from at least three agents and compare them thoroughly. Commission fees are negotiable, if necessary, to settle on a more agreeable price. The agreed fees should be included as an agency agreement and read it before signing to ensure you understand it completely.
3. Estate agency must declare a potential conflict of interests when selling a buyer their mortgage.
4. It is okay to ask an agent if a house is being offered for sale through more than one agent and you can expect a candid reply.
5. Agents are under compulsion to inform you in writing if they continue to advertise the seller's property even after they've made an offer and have to agree with the seller if the property stays on the market or not. Remember that there is no legal recourse against letting agents operating outside the code until contracts are exchanged, though they are obliged to give an honest answer if you ask.
